Melstone was named after an Associated Press reporter, Melvin Stone. He was along when the president of the railroad was touring and naming the towns along the way. The first post office was established in 1908 with Robert Wilson as postmaster.

Above is the building known as the Fire Hall to Melstone residents. a.k.a. The Fire Station.

Above is the Melstone Community Swimming Pool. It was dedicated in the memory of Grandma Hjelvik.

Above is a picture of the Melstone United States Post Office. The zip code for the Melstone area is 59054. As you can see it's the only place in Melstone with aspalt paving!

Above is a picture of the Melstone School. All grades go there. There Mascot is the Broncos. Mrs. Hanson teaches 1st and 2nd grade there, and Trey is a Senior in High School.

Above is a picture of the Melstone Cemetary. It's about a 1/2 mile out of town on a hill. From the cemetary is a great view of the city and the surrounding areas. I was told by some confidential informants that this was the place to "hang out".
